The Brazilian telecommunications company GVT, owned by the French group Vivendi, launched its Power Music Club, a music and video portal developed jointly with Universal Music. The site offers material of the record company's catalogue exclusively for the company's broadband clients. According to GVT Executive VP, Alcides Troller Pinto, it is GVT's first initiative as part of a strategy aimed at rendering content, services and interactivity over Internet.
The agreement executed with GVT accounts for Universal most complete partnership in Brazil. Through www.powermusicclub.com.br, the service offers unlimited streaming of different gender songs and video clips. Moreover, users can create and share their musical choices; they can also have access to exclusive news and promotions. "Music consumption is increasingly migrating towards digital media and nothing better than conciliating our content with GVT's broadband so as to offer the client a better experience", explained Universal Music Group in Brazil, José ?boli.
At present, GVT records a million broadband clients, out of which the 60% utilizes speeds equal or higher than 10 Mps. Its network is present in 93 cities of Brazil. According to the new web site, the company offers from 3 to 100 megabytes at USD 29,50. GVT has already announced its intentions to offer Pay-TV by means of a hybrid IPTV/DTH offer in 2011. Universal Music also belongs to Vivendi Group.
