Univision Interactive Media closed an agreement with the music video clip provider VEVO so as to include its content platform in both Univision's new site "Music", and local radio and TV web sites that the Spanish chain has in the United States. Therefore, VEVO extends its presence within the Spanish speaking market.
VEVO is owned by Universal Music Group (UMG), Sony Music Entertainment (SME) and The Abu Dhabi Media Company. Its programming is available in several platforms: VEVO.com (only for United States and Canada) in mobile phones and in YouTube through its own channel. Moreover, the company holds agreements with AOL and CBS Interactive Music Group to offer such companies its video portfolio. With such new agreement, Univision.com tries to keep its position as the "the most visited Spanish speaking portal among Spanish portals in the United States in its ninth consecutive year".
The site Music (www.Univision//Musica.com) has been launched recently and is targeted to Spanish speaking users located in the United States and Puerto Rico. The company offers 145,000 songs, web pages of artists, photographs, videos and lyrics. Additionally, visitors can listen to more than 40 radio stations of Univision. "We are well aware of how important is music for our audience and we saw a great opportunity to offer a new and improved music experience", stated Kevin Conroy, Univision Interactive Media President. VEVO is the leading video and entertainment provider with a billion streams all around the world and about 60 million single visitors in the United Sates and Canada on a monthly basis.
